About Groundswell
We are a registered charity - financially, we are supported by Department of Health, Health and Social Services (Southampton City NHS, Southampton City Council, Hampshire County Council), Lloyds TSB Foundation, Tearfund, and donations from individuals and local churches and community groups. In the last year, we supported 80 HIV
positive individuals plus their carers, friends and families. We made over 360 visits which represents nearly 900 hours of care and 5,000
miles of travel. Trustees The Trustees are responsible for the overall direction of the Trust and for major financial decisions. The Trust operated for several years as part of Wellspring Trust, but the decision was made to be an independent charity and the Groundswell Trust was accepted as a Registered Charity on 27th July 1999. Groundswell has a board of trustees and they form the management board, which also consists of the Client Services Manager. The member of staff is however restricted from discussing issues relating to their employment. They bring a wide range of valuable experiences and skills to the management of the charity. A number of the board are service users or volunteers with the charity. The board meets at an Annual Away Day and also bi-monthly to provide strategic leadership, monitor finances and use of resources and to support its volunteers and members of staff. It also regularly reviews the policies and procedures of the charity. Staff and Volunteers Two Project Workers and a Client Services Manager make up the small team of staff members, who work with volunteers to provide the service. Supervision support is provided required by with Di Hyam. |
